All about me!

Hello and welcome to my blog!  First, a little about me.  My name is Cheryl and I love all things "stitchy" I embroider, sew, quilt, crochet, knit and cross stitch.  My maternal grandmother was an accomplished needlewoman and she always had a little "kit" prepared for me whenever we would visit, so I guess its in my blood!

I fell in love with Cross Stitch in 1986 when I received in the mail a sample issue of "Cross Stitch and Country Crafts".  I was in my 20's and decided to teach myself to cross stitch and from that moment on I was hooked!  I stitched a lot of things in those days, lots of gifts, ornaments and even some pieces that still hang on my walls today!  Unfortunately, most of the shops here that carried cross stitch went out of business and when it became impossible to get new things, my cross stitching got packed away.

Life also tends to get in the way of things as well.  There is not much stitching time when you are trying to run around after a small child and work from home!  Then in February 2011, I became severely ill.  I was stricken with Mega-Toxic Ulcerative Colitis.  Long story short, after surgery, complications, a drug-induced coma, 2 months in hospital and 3 weeks in re-hab, I finally made it home minus my large intestine and equipped with an ostomy. It was a long road to recovery, but I've made it and the one thing I have learned is that you need to do what you enjoy when you want because you never know when you won't get the chance!

This past year, a dear friend re-introduced me to the beauty of cross stitch and in no time I was hooked again!  I've become addicted and can't seem to get enough of all the new patterns, designers, threads, fabrics and blogs!!

I've decided to start my own blog in order to participate with others and to share my journey back into the world of little "x's"!

Come and join me!
